It’s Jaguar’s 75th birthday, and a few lucky owners 75 to be exact will recieve a limited-edition XKR complete with more potent power and chassis modification increasing rigidity and handling characteristics.
The XKR 75 made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and a few weeks later it turns up to take some Nordschleife regulars round in the press vehicles of both types of the special edition XF-R and the XK-R.
The 75 sits lower on track honed suspension where it attained a respectable Nurburgring time Laptime of 7:58.
The fettled supercharged 5.0-litre V8 now supplies 523bhp an increase of 20bhp enough to light up the rear tyres on a demand from the forced induction torque.
The V8 delivers tremendous torque from low revs and all the way to the rev limit thanks to the Supercharger characteristic lagless power.
Traction is aided by Jaguar’s fantastic electronically controlled limited slip differential, and the 4.4-second 0-60 time is faster than the stock cars.
VMAX is limited to 174mph, and the traction control is reportedly when switched off leaves you to leave smoke on every corner see the attached pictures.
Jaguar will release a limited edition of their Jaguar XKR called “75″ at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 2 to celebrate the company’s 75th anniversary. The Jaguar XKR 75 Special Edition will be built in a limited number of 75 units.
Under the hood, the car will feature an upgraded version of the standard 5.0L supercharged engine with 525 HP and 655 Nm of torque that will take the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and to a top speed of 280 km/h. The normal XKR had a 0 to 100 acceleration time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed limited to 250 km/h.
As well as a more powerful engine and the obligatory sports exhaust, the XKR 75 gets an upgraded suspension system with a stiffer setup and slightly reduced ride height. The manufacturer insists that greater driver focus has been achieved without sacrificing the refinement and comfort that customers expect from a Jaguar.
Each of these Jaguar XKR 75 will be priced at £85,500 and will be available to order next month after the Goodwood Festival Of Speed.
Jaguar showsoff the latest dramatic evolution of its supercharged Jaguar XKR coupe at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. The stunning new Jaguar XKR Special Edition delivers a significantly raised maximum speed – 174mph (280km/h) – and stunning exterior styling changes that create the fire and brimstone supercharged Jaguar.
The Jaguar XKR Special Edition combines a number of new features and option packs that are introduced to the XK range at 2011 Model Year. Jaguar customers have the option to personalise their vehicle by building on the existing Jaguar XKR package to deliver a car that offers even greater performance without sacrificing the refinement and luxury for which every Jaguar is renowned.
Introduced in 2009, the Jaguar XKR boasts a state-of-the-art 5.0-litre supercharged AJ-V8 Gen III R engine that delivers 510PS (510bhp SAE), 625Nm of torque and propels the coupe to 60mph in just 4.6 seconds. Now, in Special Edition guise, the Jaguar XKR’s top speed climbs significantly from an electronically limited 155mph (250km/h) to 174mph (280km/h) thanks to the addition of the Speed Pack. Allied to that remarkable engine is an advanced six-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel mounted paddles, lightweight aluminium body structure and a range of computer-controlled systems including Active Differential Control and Adaptive Dynamics that ensure the supercharged car accelerates even faster, handles even more precisely and sets new standards of ride and comfort.
