Audi has released pictures of the RS Q3 Concept, that will be revealed to the world at the China 2012 motorshow in Beijing.
The concept hints that the power will be from the same 2.5 TFSI engine as the TTRS and the RS3, and will be driven from the quattro seven-speed S tronic transmission system.
The bumper was redesigned; there are now powerful edges around the outer air intakes. They are subdivided into two segments – the inner sections have honeycomb screen inserts, while their outer sections, made of Carbon Fibre, have a smooth funnel shape assume this is for the brakes. The front spoiler is also made of Carbon Fibre. Its lower section is matt black. The entire lower section of the bumper is coated with blue clearcoat paint.
In the interior of the Audi RS Q3 concept, which gets plenty of light through a glass sunroof, cool black is the dominant color – on the roofliner, floor carpet, floor mats, leather-upholstered instrument panel and on large areas of the seat upholstery, which consists of Fine Nappa leather. Dark blue Alcantara is used as a contrasting element on the seat covers.
The styling of the engine compartment is also extremely sporty in appearance. A layered-carbon trim panel covers the area around the five-cylinder engine that sports a red valve cover, and two laterally arranged ventilation screens feed air to the engine. As is the practice in car racing, the cylinder numbers are marked on their spark plug covers. An aluminum housing holds the open sports air filter, and the filtered air tube is made of stainless steel.
The car looks less outlandish than the usual concepts so we expect a production concept to be shown at Frankfurt later on in 2012 and rumoured to be available 2nd quarter 2013.
Here is a short but sweet video of Tanner Foust driving the Ford Focus RS around the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Power for the Ford Focus RS500 comes from the same turbocharged Duratec RS 2.5-L 5-cylinder engine found in the RS. However, power has been increased to around 345-hp with a maximum torque of 339 lb-ft.
That allows the Focus RS500 to go from 0-62 mph in 5.6 seconds with a top speed of 163 mph.
These are the very first nearly uncamouflaged spyshots of the RS families baby RS1.
But what the prototype is sporting under the hood is the big question.
After the Audi A1 Clubsport Quattro which had the 2.5 liter along with 496bhp and a whopping 660 NM of torque, We expect this varient to house the 2.0l TFSI with expected power output of around 280bhp.
The reason why we dont think the car is equipped with the 2.5 liter is the size of the brakes and the supporting disk rotors.
Mark Webber made his Formula One debut in 2002, scoring Minardi’s first points in three years at his and Stoddart’s home race. After his first season Jaguar Racing took him on as lead driver. During two years with the generally uncompetitive team Webber several times qualified on the front two rows of the grid and outperformed his team mates. His first F1 win was with Red Bull Racing in the 2009 German Grand Prix, which followed second places at the 2009 Chinese, Turkish, and British Grands Prix. By the end of 2009, Webber had scored eight podiums, including another victory in Brazil. His eight podiums in 2009 compares to only two podiums in the first seven years of his career.
With a CV like that it is of no surprise that he knows how to drive a car, and he owns a Porsche 911 GT2 RS.
So the Porsche marketing team set to work on publicising the formula 1 drivers purchase, by offering a lucky few to be passengers around silverstone.
Webber describes the 650hp Porsche GT2-RS as a little bit naughty, that to me is like calling Fred West innocent.
It takes a while to build one of the world’s hottest hatches, and after the limited number of 500 units have sold out.
While the car may start life as nearly identical to the standard Focus RS hatchback, the video shows the factory modification that starts with a unique hood and wraps up with a special larger intercooler, bodywork, spoiler and black wheels – all completed by hand.
The FWD 350 horsepower, turbocharged 2.5-liter 5 cylinder engine is finished off by the team from 3M as they wrap the car in matte black vinyl.

A new and powerful limited edition Focus RS model, called the RS500, is being launched as the ultimate performance Ford and will provide the definitive driving experience for serious performance car enthusiasts.
Making its global debut at the 2010 Leipzig Motor Show in Germany on April 9, the new model has been given the RS500 designation to highlight its strictly-limited production run of 500 individually-numbered vehicles, all of which will be offered for customers to purchase.
The new Focus RS500 features a muscular 350 PS 2.5-litre 5-cylinder engine, which generates 15 per cent more power than the standard Focus RS and delivers truly exhilarating performance.
The RS500’s breathtaking power is matched by an equally dramatic appearance. The limited edition model sports a unique matt black ‘foil’ paint finish with matching alloy wheels to deliver a powerful visual impact which is unlike any other production Ford.
“We were determined to mark the end of production for the current and acclaimed Focus RS with something even more special,” said Joe Bakaj, Ford of Europe’s vice president for Product Development. “From its stunning looks to its intoxicating performance, we have no doubt that the RS500 will be appreciated and quickly snapped up by performance car enthusiasts.
“This vehicle joins a long line of iconic RS Fords and is a worthy recipient of the RS500 name, which became synonymous with success on the road and track with the legendary Sierra RS500 Cosworth that dominated saloon car racing during the late 1980s,”
After gaining the new speed record for fullsize-SUVs at the High Speed Event at the Italian Nardo circuit at the beginning of December 2009, the tuners at Techart smashed the former lap record at the Sachsenring race track. The performance was achieved with their GT Street RS vehicle, based on the Porsche 911 GT2 with a 700hp (515 kw) and 860nm of torque. 203469|260203475|260 The GT Street RS have already demonstrated its sprinter qualities by getting to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. 203478|260203484|260 Furthermore, the sports car achieved a 36-yard braking distance at a speed of 100 km/h. According to its creators, these performance figures were due to the TÜV-tested and approved components as well as OEM quality of the vehicle.
For the conclusion of the extensive test program, the TECHART GT Street RS was able to crown once more the performance achieved on this day. With a lap time of 1:31.94 min, the winner of the Tuner Grand Prix 2008 and 2009 repeatedly demonstrated the TECHART winning gene,” a company statement reads.
With more than 1.95 sec of head start, it left not only the competitors far behind, but improved the current AutoBild SPORTSCARS lap record at the Sachsenring by an respectable 4.47 sec with a time of 1:31.94.
Price for the 700hp GTstreet RS starts at €350,000.
