The team at Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, have developed a new top-of-the-range sports car for the customer who will only settle for the very best in terms of power, performance and driving dynamics: the 911 Turbo S.

The heart of this most exclusive high-performance athlete is of course a six-cylinder boxer boosted by two exhaust gas turbochargers with variable turbine geometry, with an increase in power over the 911 Turbo by 30 to 530 bhp (390 kW).

Maximum torque is a most impressive 700 Newton-metres (516 lb-ft). At the same time this new top model comes as standard with all high-tech components available only as options on the “regular” 911 Turbo.

Despite its significant increase in power and dynamic performance, the new 911 Turbo S, at 11.4 litres/100 kilometres (equal to 24.8 mpg imp), does not consume any more fuel than the Porsche 911 Turbo, making it by far the most efficient sports car in its performance class.

The 911 Turbo S comes exclusively with seven-speed Porsche- Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) (Porsche’s Double-Clutch Gearbox) conveying drive power to Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive.

Driving safety optimised to an even higher standard is ensured by Dynamic Engine Mounts and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) including a mechanical differential lock on the rear axle. In conjunction with Launch Control on the Sport Chrono Package featured as standard, the 911 Turbo S accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in 10.8 seconds Top speed is 315 km/h or 195 mph.

The new Porsche 911 Turbo S will be at the dealership as both a Coupé and Cabriolet as of May 2010.

The German market price of the Turbo S Coupé is Euro 173,241 including 19 per cent value-added tax and local equipment in the market (the Euro base price is Euro 145,400).

The Cabriolet retails in the German market at Euro 184.546, again including 19 per cent VAT and local equipment/specifications (base price Euro 154,900).

TechArt GTStreet RS: record run

After gaining the new speed record for fullsize-SUVs at the High Speed Event at the Italian Nardo circuit at the beginning of December 2009, the tuners at Techart smashed the former lap record at the Sachsenring race track. The performance was achieved with their GT Street RS vehicle, based on the Porsche 911 GT2 with a 700hp (515 kw) and 860nm of torque.

Furthermore, the sports car achieved a 36-yard braking distance at a speed of 100 km/h. According to its creators, these performance figures were due to the TÜV-tested and approved components as well as OEM quality of the vehicle.

For the conclusion of the extensive test program, the TECHART GT Street RS was able to crown once more the performance achieved on this day. With a lap time of 1:31.94 min, the winner of the Tuner Grand Prix 2008 and 2009 repeatedly demonstrated the TECHART winning gene,” a company statement reads.

With more than 1.95 sec of head start, it left not only the competitors far behind, but improved the current AutoBild SPORTSCARS lap record at the Sachsenring by an respectable 4.47 sec with a time of 1:31.94.

Price for the 700hp GTstreet RS starts at €350,000.

Porsche GT3 R 2010

Porsche unveils its latest 911 derivative race car, announces an innovative racing driver development course and introduces its British motorsport programme for 2010 at the Autosport International show at the Birmingham NEC (January 14 – 17).

The 911 GT3 R
Developed for racing series based on the international FIA GT3 regulations, the stunning 911 GT3 R succeeds the 911 GT3 Cup S and is delivered to customers ready-to-race. The starting point in developing the GT3 R was the latest 3.8 litre Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, which will compete in the 2010 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup supporting selected Formula One races. However, the GT3 R – which weighs just 1,200 kg (2,646 lb) – has a larger 4.0-litre six-cylinder ‘boxer’ engine delivering 480 bhp and other technical developments designed to improve the performance of the car further still.

For example, an anti-lock braking system, traction control and an electronic throttle with ‘blip’ function on gearbox down-changes make it much easier for drivers to get used to the GT3 R race car than the prior Cup S model, with the consequence that the new car is also more appropriate for the ambitious amateur racing driver rather than purely experienced professionals. The main focus with this new car was to deliver even better driveability and easier handling.

Additional flared wheel arches front and rear emphasise the purposeful, wide track of the GT3 R. And like all second generation versions of the 911, the new 911 GT3 R also comes with striking LED rear light clusters. For optimal aerodynamic performance, the underbody of the car is completely covered and features a rear diffuser and, compared to the prior Cup S model, the range of adjustment on the rear wing has been increased.

The highly-developed suspension can also be adjusted extensively; at the front are height-adjustable MacPherson struts with variable SACHS two-way shock absorbers and double coil springs (main and auxiliary). At the rear, the GT3 R features a rigidly mounted sub-frame with a height-adjustable multi-arm axle together with adjustable SACHS two-way shock absorbers and double coil springs.

Insane Porsche GT3 racing Bikes

This is one of the most extreme and silly driving videos I have seen this year.

Gemballa AVALANCHE GTR 650 EVO-R

The AVALANCHE GTR 650 EVO R the chairman and founder Uwe Gemballa follows this success story and presents the face-lifted version of the previous AVALANCHE-generation. Equipped with a awe inspiring car form design and an auto body which has been broadened with Thyssen steel, the super sports car
sets benchmarks for production quality and design accents.

But that is not enough: the AVALANCHE GTR 650 EVO-R offers elaborate, supreme technology and with 650 PS its tuned engine delivers an enormous top speed of 332 km/h.

Already at first glance, the AVALANCHE explicitly underlines its ties with the extreme sports car fraternity. Especially designed gull wing doors and the new front headlights from the Carrera GT, leave significant visual form features. The same applies for the powerful metal extensions which were specially produced in a Thyssen Group subsidiary and then directly welded to the body shell. The GEMBALLA technicians developed a custom-made bonnet and side skirts as well. The front wings are replaced by a carbon version. Following the facelift of the current Porsche 911 induction engine models, GEMBALLA gives the AVALANCHE a visual refreshment as well. A part of this modernisation is the entirely re-designed front skirt. The integrated carbon front lip conveys the air to the large cooling slits and gives the car an even more lowered look.

Also the rear section of the AVALANCHE contains a makeover: the most striking feature is the use of LED tail lamps from the current Porsche 911. Moreover, this is additionally enhanced by a new rear skirt.

The winning car, refined with the TECHART equipment, is based on a Porsche Cayenne Turbo with Turbo S technology. The installed TA 055/2.2 performance kit takes the engine up to a mighty 680 hp, an increase of 130 hp compared with the standard production model.

The Aerodynamics Kit I, together with the “Sport” air suspension module, additionally delivered the necessary performance on the circuit.
