Jaguar PROJECT 7

Jaguar Project 7Jaguar’s Project 7 concept will make a dynamic debut at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed on 12th July. Project 7 is based on Jaguar’s acclaimed F-TYPE, its all-new, two-seater, convertible sports car and winner of the World Car Design of the Year 2013 award.

Key exterior design changes include a fairing behind the driver’s head; bespoke carbon-fibre components – a new front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser; lowered windshield and restyled front bumper. Project 7’s unique interior features a composite single-seat with racing harness, a helmet holder and custom trim. Project 7’s name acknowledges Jaguar’s winning of Le Mans seven times between 1951-1990 – a record for a British manufacturer – and its blue paintwork is reminiscent of the victorious Jaguar D-types of 1956/1957.

Project 7 is not a static concept, but a fully-functional, high-performance sports car. The F-TYPE’s rigid all-aluminum architecture provides the perfect starting point, power coming from Jaguar’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine in 550PS/680Nm form – an increase of 55PS and 55Nm over the F-TYPE V8 S.  Continue reading Jaguar PROJECT 7

The Astonishing Mercedes Benz A45 AMG

Mercedes AMG

It’s going to take a while to get used to this. Mercedes Benz cars are supposed to be big, imposing and luxurious. Owning a Mercedes Benz means you are a significant member of society. You have the money to buy a Mercedes and the taste to appreciate Mercedes styling and the legacy of the brand.

What if the car isn’t significant in size or looks? What if it doesn’t look like a Mercedes Benz? A Mercedes that looks ordinary is like a three star Michelin restaurant selling Rice Crispy treats. Those treats better have something extraordinary in them. Luckily, Mercedes Benz let the clever people at AMG have the car with permission to do whatever they want. Mercedes-AMG GmbH is the performance expert for Mercedes Benz. They’re responsible for the frighteningly fast Black series of Mercedes Benz performance cars.

The A45 AMG is the same size and shape as any other sub-compact. It’s got five doors, the essentially fastback design with (when viewed from the side) an oval for the passengers and a box for the engine and the general look of a second or third car. It also carries a $50,000 price tag.

Chris Harris Exclusive 918 Preview of the Porsche 918

Porsche 918 Spider

Envy is one word for the exclusive access Chris gets to the motor industry, but Pistonspy tips his hat on some very sensible and technical details he manages to extort from the engineers at Porsche.

He gets the information that the calibration unit for the drive train comes from the 991 variant of the Porsche GT3, and also manages to take the prototype version, albeit riding shotgun on to the streets around the Nordschleife in Germany.

Also discussed is the range of the electric mode which is hinted with a range of 150km in between charges, then the chassis calibration engineer turns the car in to race mode and basically turns Chris interest in to the combustion engine.

Anyway enjoy the video and celebrate with Porsche the incredible laptime of 7:14 of the infamous circuit in the 918, which I remind you is still not the final calibrated production variant of the new Porsche’s supercar.

The MDX is currently touring the Eifel at the Nürburgring Area 51.

Albeit the Crossover is hiding under heavy camouflage, we are expecting a revised front end and some other design hints from the Concept along with total redesign of the light clusters.

The Entry model will be powered by a V6 engine with about 300 HP, It is also likely that there will also be a hybrid version with three electric motors working in conjunction with a 3.5-litre V6 engine sharing technology with the upcoming NSX.

The new Acura MDX will be launched in late 2013 as a 2014 model.
