Well the saga of manufacturers lap times on the Nordschleife in Germany keep rolling in, This time the current 991 series of the 911 Carrera S has attained a time of 7:37.9.
This time is impressive as it shows that Timo Kluck drove the new 911 faster than the outgoing 2010 series Porsche Turbo by around 2 seconds, but still shy of the 7:20 ascertained by the Nissan GTR.
The interesting lap time of the currently in development 991 turbo will be aiming to shatter the Nissan GTR’s in light of the aggressive marketing against Porsche, and after seeing that the Nissan engineers also have a Porsche in the fleet at the Nordschleife for comparison. The 2012 new generation of Porsche Boxster was unveiled last week at the 2012 Geneva Auto Salon.
The Boxster S model lapped the Nurburgring race track in an impressive 7:58 – Which is 18seconds slower than its big brother the all new 911 which lapped in 7:40.
This means that it lapped the nurburgring faster than the C63 AMG Coupe (8:01) and the Corvette C6 (7:59) all of which are powerfull big v8’s.
Powering the new Boxster S is a 3.4 liter flat-six engine that delivers 315 HP to the rear. It completes the 0 to 60 mph dash in just 4.8 seconds and will soar on to a top speed of 173 mph.
We do need to see the video to confirm the laptime.
Some Mercedes Benz blogs on the internet are reporting that the C63 AMG Black Series, has lapped the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife in 7:46 at the hands of the infamous SportAuto test drivers in Germany.
The C63 AMG Black Series has shaved two seconds off the BMW M3 GTS respectable time off 7:48.
We expect some news from Mercedes Via SportAuto in the next few Days and hopefully a video to back up the rumour.
The guys from woking have handed the keys over to the Sport Auto reviewers in Germany for a timed lap of the Nordschleife.
The v8 Biturbo engine delivers a whopping 600hp to the rear wheels through a seven speed dual clutch, and all this sitting in a Carbon fiber monocoque weighing in at 1434kg.
The Editor in Chief of SportAuto managed to ascertain a time of 7:28 im pretty sure that there is another 10 seconds to be had in this car but perhaps not this year.
