Porsche Panamera S Hybrid – Official Pictures & Video

Porsche have revealed a new hybrid ahead of the 2011 Geneva Motorshow, the Panamera S Hybrid achieves an impressive 159 g/km CO2 and a whopping 41.54 Mpg.

The new Gran Turismo produces an impressive 380hp from its 3.0 liter V6 and the 34 Kilowatt electric motor, and the rear wheels is driven by the familiar eight-speed Tiptronic S fitted as standard in the Cayenne models with a wide spread of ratios.

The Panamera S Hybrid accelerates from a standing start to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.0 seconds, reaching top speed at 270 km/h (168 mph).

It also has an advanced start and stop technology where if the car detects that no power is required from the combustion engine it turns off only to re-engage when power is required.


Opel Battery Powered Meriva – Prototype Testing

Today we spotted for the second time some interesting Opel Prototype Electric Powered Meriva.

The 3 cars did not have any obvious detailing to reveal its electronic powered insides but was spotted as they had no Exhaust pipes.

And on the result of following the said vehicles it was found to be quite suitable in overtaking the fossil fueled rivals even after a 2500m mountain ascent.

The cars are rumoured to have Kinetic energy recharge system on descent and on braking something which can be tested thouroughly in the many mountain passes in Europe.

Considering the finished look and the lack of camouflage we expect to see these unvailed at Paris this year.

Ferrari 599 hybrid revealed at #Geneva

Ferrari at he 80th Geneva motor show revealed its new hybrid/KERS technology, which it claims will not only make its cars more efficient, but will also markedly improve performance and handling and be standard on everycar in 3 years.

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo said: “You don’t often see a green Ferrari on our Geneva stand, but this year there’s a new agenda for us.”

The addition of an electric motor into the drivetrain will also be accompanied by other efficiency measures including engine downsizing and advanced aerodynamic concepts.

Ferrari’s hybrid design is particularly clever because it is notably compact and can be integrated relatively simply into both the company’s front and mid-engined layouts.

The electric motor develops 100bhp and 110lb ft of torque and is backed up by an 80kW battery made up of very slim (20mm thick) cells mounted under the 599’s floor to maintain handling requirements.

Other changes include the electronics control module (mounted in the boot, with cooling pumps) and a small electric motor/generator mounted on the front of the engine. This drives the ancillaries (including the air-con and power steering) when the car is running purely on battery power.

At the moment, however, the system’s electric-only range is estimated to be just three miles. The set-up also includes a stop-start facility, which sees the hybrid motor used to restart the engine.

Ferrari estimates that, even with the extra 100kg of weight resulting from the hybrid installation, drivers will see improved in-gear acceleration, including shaving the 0-124mph sprint time back to just 10.4sec from 11.0sec. The 599’s centre of gravity has not risen; it remains just 489mm off the ground.

The millisecond response time of the motor will also be used for ‘Electronic Torque Shaping’. This introduces torque ‘blips’ from the hybrid electric motor to smooth the petrol engine’s torque delivery, giving the driver a more linear throttle response. Ferrari claims that using the ETC and ETS together will greatly improve acceleration out of corners.

The Lotus Evora 414E Hybrid, so-named because this latest environmentally-focused technology demonstrator from Lotus Engineering produces 414 PS (306 kW) of power, promises breathtaking performance from a highly efficient propulsion system. The concept showcases new developments in plug-in, range-extended electric propulsion, new electronic technologies to enhance driver involvement, the adaptability of the Lotus Versatile Vehicle Architecture (VVA) that underpins the Evora 414E Hybrid and a dramatic new roof system and interior concept from Lotus Design. Through all of these aspects it ultimately demonstrates the exceptional ability of Lotus Engineering to integrate and develop advanced technologies for exciting, efficient, high performance niche vehicles.

The range extended electric drive of the Evora 414E Hybrid consists of two electric motors driving each of the rear wheels independently via single speed geartrain, integrated into a common transmission housing, thus enabling torque vectoring for stability control of the vehicle. Electrical power is stored in a lithium polymer battery pack optimised for energy density, efficiency and high power demand, mounted in the centre of the vehicle for stability and safety. Additional range is provided by the Lotus Range Extender engine, an optimised 1.2 litre, three-cylinder engine, designed specifically for series hybrid vehicles. The drivetrain is designed to combine astonishing performance with efficient, low emissions driving.

Driver involvement is enhanced by the incorporation of HALOsonic Internal and External Electronic Sound Synthesis technologies from Lotus and Harman International, which provide sound contouring within the cabin and improve pedestrian safety outside the vehicle. Integrated with the HALOsonic technology, the Evora 414E Hybrid also showcases a brand new technology from Lotus Engineering, a sports mode that simulates a 7 speed, paddle shift transmission that combines exceptional driver involvement for a hybrid sports car and optimised energy recuperation.

2011 Porsche Cayenne Lineup

The 2011 Porsche Cayenne has been officially revealed ahead of its world debut next week at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. (Below Pictures Spotted of the Test Mule at the Nordschleife)

The second-generation Porsche 4×4 will come onto the market with more room, improved technology, and performance but is also trying to rebadge as a green car!.

In line with Porsche’s new “Intelligent Performance” mantra, every model in the Cayenne lineup–from the entry-level V-6 to the range-topping Turbo boasts improved performance while using less fuel and producing fewer CO2’s than the previous generation.

The highlight of the new lineup is undoubtedly the Cayenne S Hybrid, which we can confirm will be offered to the market this winter. It features a sophisticated parallel hybrid drive system that combines a supercharged 333 horsepower 3.0-liter gasoline V-6 with a 47 horsepower electric motor running on lithium batteries. The end result is a V-8 like 380 horsepower and 427 pound-feet of torque, the latter of which is available from a low 1,000 rpm.

Honda CR-Z Hybrid Detroit Motor Show 2010

Honda has revealed its new CR-Z, billed as the world’s first hybrid sports car, here at the Detroit motor show.

It’s powered by a modified version of the IMA system from the Insight, fitted with a larger 102bhp 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 20bhp electric motor in an effort to boost performance.

The Japanese firm says the funky looking CR-Z 2+2 revives the spirit of the early-90s CRX and brings dynamic, fun-to-drive qualities that have never been offered before on hybrid vehicles. It also offers excellent economy with a claimed combined fuel consumption of 56.4mpg and 117g/km CO2 emissions.

“The CR-Z is a sport hybrid coupe for people with a spirit of adventure and an elevated sense of responsibility toward the environment,” said John Mendel, VP of sales for American Honda.

Three settings allow the driver to prime the powertrain for sporty or economical driving, while a performance-bias chassis set-up and relatively light kerbweight of 1198kg should ensure the CR-Z is reasonably nimble.

A European version of the hybrid coupe with more conservative styling is due to make its debut at the Geneva motor show in March; it will have to be appealing because Honda sources say prices will start from a not insubstantial £18,000.
