All New Porsche Boxster – Begins Production at Volkswagen Osnabrück GmbH

The first visible changes of the recent VW takeover of Porsche is the move the manufacturer of the Boxster, Porsche has began partially producing its Boxster model at Volkswagen Osnabrück GmbH. This step is necessary, as Porsche’s main factory in Stuttgart does not have enough capacity to cope with demand.

The first vehicle to roll off the line was an Indian red Boxster S with a black soft top.
In attendance for the start of Boxster production in Osnabrück were Minister President of Lower Saxony David McAllister, Lord Mayor of Osnabrück Boris Pistorius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn as well as President and CEO of Porsche AG Matthias Müller.

2012 Porsche Boxster Cabriolet spotted at the Nurburgring

The Pistonspy has spotted the 2012 Porsche Boxster doing test laps around the track at the Nurburgring circuit along with his GT2 bigger brother.

When we spotted this last year a lot of the Test Mule was hidden under heavily clad camouflage this time much of the front detailing of the boxter can be made out.

In these clearest shots yet, we can also clearly see the new air scoops feeding the usual straight six engine.

The next-generation Porsche Boxster is expected to debut in late 2011 probably revealed for the first time at the Geneva Motorshow.
