The 2012 new generation of Porsche Boxster was unveiled last week at the 2012 Geneva Auto Salon.
The Boxster S model lapped the Nurburgring race track in an impressive 7:58 – Which is 18seconds slower than its big brother the all new 911 which lapped in 7:40.
This means that it lapped the nurburgring faster than the C63 AMG Coupe (8:01) and the Corvette C6 (7:59) all of which are powerfull big v8’s.
Powering the new Boxster S is a 3.4 liter flat-six engine that delivers 315 HP to the rear. It completes the 0 to 60 mph dash in just 4.8 seconds and will soar on to a top speed of 173 mph.
We do need to see the video to confirm the laptime.
Here are some shots of the upcoming Boxster touted to be in frankfurt as a production ready concept. The headlights are camouflages as on the new 911 hiding the styling around the edges.
The next-generation Boxster, known internally at Porsche as the 981, revealed its new LED taillights which is styled on the new 911.
We expect the Boxster S to be housing a reworked version of the 3.4 and the standar model with the 2.9 and will most likely carry over with some changes to horsepower and its green efficiency.
Porsche is also working on a new 2.5-litre four-cylinder forced induction, that will make into the new Boxster.
