Victory for Aston Martin in Dubai 24h Race

UAE based AUH Motorsports stormed to a class victory and 16th overall in the Dubai 24 Hours with its Aston Martin Vantage GT4.

Emirati driver Humaid Al Masaood teamed with Eric Charles, Alex Kapadia and Michael Prophet to take victory.

The tightly contested SP3 class for GT4 cars saw Aston Martins filling three of the top four positions. British team Nicholas Mee Racing finished third to claim a place on the podium and DXB Racing completed the gruelling endurance contest just one lap behind in fourth.

A large crowd attended the Dubai Autodrome to witness the start of the fifth Dunlop 24 Hours of Dubai, which got underway at 1400 (local time) on 15 January.

In total 74 cars started the race, which was held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

There were a number of early minor incidents, one of which involved the winners of last year’s SP3 class, Dubai based DXB Racing’s Aston Martin Vantage GT4. The incident cost the team several places but they fought back to finish fourth in class and 19th overall.

The class victory is a further testament to the performance, durability and reliability of the Aston Martin Vantage GT4, which has become a regular class winner in endurance races around the globe since its inception.

Gaydon, Tuesday 22 December. Aston Martin’s One-77 supercar has moved even closer to setting a new all-time record for the British manufacturer in initial high speed testing after surpassing all predictions and comfortably breaking the 200mph barrier.

The One-77 is currently undergoing a strict development process ahead of planned launch in 2010 with high speed testing taking place at a top secret proving ground in southern Europe Nardo?. In a series of test runs completed last week the One-77 exceeded original expectations and recorded a 220.007mph (354.86kmh) top speed in dry but windy conditions under the guidance of the Aston Martin engineering team. Dynamic testing is now scheduled to continue into the New Year.

The engine is Powered by a new Aston Martin 7.3 litre V12 engine, the One-77 is engineered to deliver breathtaking levels of power and performance. The dramatically styled two-door, two-seat sports coupe is based on an innovative new carbon fibre monocoque body structure and adopts new active aerodynamic technology.

The One-77 is the pinnacle of what Aston Martin stands for and will combine modern technology and design with craftsmanship and ultimate exclusivity to create the world’s most desirable automotive form.
