All New Porsche 911 GT3

The sportiest 911 will have its world premiere at the Geneva International Motor Show: the new Porsche 911 GT3. In the 50th anniversary year of the 911, Porsche is now set to open a new chapter in race track performance sports cars. The fifth generation of the 911 GT3, a complete new development, will take the pole position among the thoroughbred Porsche sports cars with naturally aspirated engines.

Boxer engine and transmission, as well as body and chassis are completely new and constitute a further development of the 911 GT3 concept with an impressive performance leap. Power: 475 hp. Power to weight ratio: 3.0 kg/hp. Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h: in 3.5 seconds. Top speed: 315 km/h. Lap time Nürburgring Nordschleife: under 7:30 minutes. As a technical highlight, it features the first active rear wheel steering in a production Porsche. As well as the optional full LED headlights. The new 911 GT3 keeps all the successful properties of a sports car suitable for racing, with even more driving dynamics, more sophisticated practicality – and a highly emotional fun factor. The powertrain of the new 911 GT3 is composed of a 3.8-liter boxer engine yielding 475 hp (350 kW) at 8.250 rpm, a Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) and a high-traction rear-wheel drive.

Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Teased on track at Weissach

GT3 Cup

Here is the first official video & Photos of the track-only version of the new 911 GT3 cup lapping the purpose built test track at Weissach near Stuttgart Germany.

We expect the 2013 911 GT3 Cup will be officially unveiled very soon in time for the 2013 racing season.

Like the outgoing model we expect the 911 GT3 Cup to have the same specification as the road going street racer the GT3 RS of course sporting carpets and more road going niceties.

The regular 2013 911 GT3 will probably be unveiled along with the hard-core RS variant at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

Porsche 911 Carrera S – Laps the Nürburgring in 7:37.9

Porsche 911 Carrera S - Laps Nurburgring in 7:37.0

Well the saga of manufacturers lap times on the Nordschleife in Germany keep rolling in, This time the current 991 series of the 911 Carrera S has attained a time of 7:37.9.

This time is impressive as it shows that Timo Kluck drove the new 911 faster than the outgoing 2010 series Porsche Turbo by around 2 seconds, but still shy of the 7:20 ascertained by the Nissan GTR.

The interesting lap time of the currently in development 991 turbo will be aiming to shatter the Nissan GTR’s in light of the aggressive marketing against Porsche, and after seeing that the Nissan engineers also have a Porsche in the fleet at the Nordschleife for comparison.

2014 Porsche 911 Turbo – First Pictures with the roof down

Here are the latest and first spyshots of the Turbo Cabriolet with the roof down showing more details of the forced induction family of the new 911.

The latest generation ‘991’ has already been released in normally aspirated engines and this will follow on from the legendary 911 Turbo.

The new 911 Turbo Cabriolet should come onto the market as a 2013 model complete with a twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, wide rear arches.

An advanced tri-turbo setup has been reported as a possibility, with the addition of the third turbocharger aimed at improving low-end response but this could be the first practical application of KERS in a road going Porsche.

Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet – Spyshots

Porsche have officially unveiled the new 911 in both Cabriolet and Coupe body styles, It is now time for the forced induction growling 911’s.

The prototype here still under heavy camouflage is showing its side intake ports as well as its fatter booty along with an oversized spoiler.

The styling including the headlight clusters will follow the recently unveiled 911’s.

This engine is internally called the GT-R beater but perhaps not in its cabriolet form but I look forward to the comparisons.

The engine will have an output of around 560hp, and perhaps even more interest will be around how many blowers this will have. (Tri-Turbo??)

Look out for the debut of the new 911 Turbo at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March.

Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe Spied Winter Testing

Here are the latest spyshots of the upcoming 911 Turbo Coupe in very light camouflage and just hides some of the detailing on the front bumper.

Looking closely at the spyshots in the images above, we can clearly see the trademark induction inlets supplying the artic cool air to the 6 cylinder twin turbo boxer engine, as well as its wider rear end and oversized spoiler will aid the AWD system in downforce and grip.

The rear bumper on this new 911 Turbo also features additional cooling vents and a set of integrated exhaust pipes which are likely to be changed.

From The current 997 generation, the 911 Turbo is 4.5 cm wider stance than the regular Carrera.

The engine is likely to be around the 565 hp to compete with the Nissan GTR and is likely to release an interesting nurburgring lap time video close to release in late 2012.

The car is also likely to have an optional upgrade to the ‘PDK-S’ dual clutch transmission sporting an additional gear to keep shorter gear ratio to aid acceleration and mid range torque.

We expect a production prototype to be shown at Geneva in a couple of months….

2012 911 Porsche – Spyshots

Porsche’s next 911, known internally as the 991 has been spied in predelivery specification in southern Germany.

The 991 will be a totally reworked version of the current 996/997 platform, with the longer wheel base we expect a bit more lateral grip than previous 911’s.

The powerunit will be the naturally aspirated flat six, likely in two displacements, as is currently 997.

We don’t expect any increase in power but expect it to be lighter by about 35kg than the current model from increased use of aluminimum body panels.

We expect there will be a coupe and a convertible body as well along with future GT2 and GT3 models.

Expect more to be revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt IAA in September.
