2014 Mercedes-Benz GLA – Crossover Spied!

Mercedes Benz GLA Crossover
Mercedes-Benz is hard at work on its GLA crossover model , previously known as the GLC. The crossover is to compete against the likes of the upcoming Porsche Macan and the BMW x1.

The GLA will be built on the German automaker’s front wheel drive Platform (MFA) that also underpins the new A and B Class models, and will be offered in both front-wheel four-wheel drive.

It is expected to arrive later on next year or early 2014 and currently looks to be on schedule, despite the heavy camouflage as seen in these spy shots it looks close to production quality.

Though it may be hard to see, the GLA’s body looks similar to the A-Class, and is definitely much less angular than the GLK.

Under the hood we will see the same engine lineup that the A-Class features, meaning a choice of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines and perhaps an AMG variant to compete with the upcoming Porsche Macan with around 350hp.

Expect the GLA to hit a showroom close to you during 2014 and a worldwide reveal at either Geneva or Frankfurt in 2013.

  1. That’s potentially a fine looking car… I wonder whether the ‘notches’ on the doors will be part of the final design, or are simply there to camouflage the vehicles’ appearance. I’m opting for the second guess.
