Well the internet rumor mill is alive and kicking touting that the McLaren P1 has lapped the Nürburgring in 7:04 but no official release from McLaren in apparent dismay that they haven’t broken the 7 minute barrier.
Although this is 5 seconds shy of Ron Dennis quote at the Geneva Motorshow that it would break the 7 minute barrier, which would make it the fastest street-legal production car ever to round the famous German circuit. But McLaren hasn’t confirmed the time, and it likely won’t.
Why not, you ask? – Well I think this is just a clever ploy just before the Frankfurt IAA , I honestly think they have broken the 7 minute barrier and all prepared for a media extravaganza at the Frankfurt IAA next week.
Only time will tell but I assure you they wouldn’t be taking their car home so quickly if they wasn’t fetching good news!
Even though this time beats the current official record of a production street-legal car held by the Dodge Viper ACR with a time of 7:12.13 which I hasten to add is no longer in production and wasn’t so at the time of the record run.
So lets see who is the king of the internet Rumor Mill?
