2013 Range Rover – Spyshots Less Camouflage

Here are the latest spyshots of not one but three different prototypes of the 2013 Range Rover all of which in different stages of Camouflage.

No more heavy cladding that hides all the lines and details, now there are only light stickers giving most of the details such as the new head lights, air intakes and so away. We can also notice that the engine hood is more rounded then before and that the grille is more upright.

The platform which is being developed here will be the same platform used with the Discovery range and is the first proper weight reduction exercise with this chassis.

This chassis features a lightweight, rivet-bonded aluminium chassis and various other manufacturing composites throughout the car hinted at reducing the car by nearly 400KG.

This is expected to equate to achieving around 34mpg from its lightened chassis.

All these cars are diesel powered and we expect the Sport to turn up later this month in prototype form.

Range Rover Spotted in Winter Test Spyshots.

The 2012-2013 Range Rover is getting close to the final production form and is finishing its extensive test cycle in the Arctic Circle.

As you can see the clearest shots of the interior it seems to have a complete digital instrument display along with a totally modernised interior.

The aluminium chassis will weigh in around 500kg lighter than its older brother, resulting in a total weight of an impressive 2,000kg.

The powertrain will be revised as well, consisting of an 4.4 liter V8 diesel engine which offers around 320 HP and a eight-speed servo actuated gearbox.

Due to the weight reduction and advanced engine advances we expect the MPG to be similar to the larger saloon cars.

The fourth generation Range Rover will also be available with a diesel powered V6 and a more 5.0 liter supercharged V8.

We are also hearing rumours that Range Rover are testing a replacement to the supercharger and probably introducing a Tri-Turbo set up to aid its MPG targets.

I think its too early to expect a world premier of the car at Geneva but we might see a concept of the upcoming vehicle.

Range Rover Sport Spied on the Nurburgring

The 2013 Range Rover will be the fourth generation superceding the original that was produced from 1970 to 1996, the second series platform lasted from 1994 to 2001, and the current “Stormer Concept” that has been in production post 2002.

These Spyshots even though heavily camouflaged hints at its longer wheelbase and completely revised shell.

By using the lightweight material, engineers could lose up to 40 percent from the weight of the current Range Rover’s unpainted body shell, equating to a saving of roughly 660 to 880 pounds. Advanced composites are also expected to be used for certain elements, such as the body panels and rear tailgate.

2013 Range Rover Spyshots – Spied in Southern Europe

The new generation Range Rover has been spotted during hot weather testing in Southern Europe today.

These are the first Spyshots of a prototype of the 2013 Range Rover, it is really important platform for Land Rover as it shares chassis as the upcoming Land Rover Discovery and Range Rover Sport.

Rumors are talking about that the new platform is a modified Jaguar XJ platform that has been strengthened on vital places to make sure the off-road capabilities will remain top of the line.

The new Range Rover has gone through a drastic weight reduction, thanks to more aluminum used on both chassis and body which will improve on consumption and its off road capability.

Power will come from both diesel and petrol engines known from the current line-up, even if slightly upgraded, and there will also be two hybrid versions.

This means that the Range Rover will be available both as diesel hybrid and as petrol hybrid when it will be official in late 2012 or early 2013
