All New Porsche Boxster – Begins Production at Volkswagen Osnabrück GmbH

The first visible changes of the recent VW takeover of Porsche is the move the manufacturer of the Boxster, Porsche has began partially producing its Boxster model at Volkswagen Osnabrück GmbH. This step is necessary, as Porsche’s main factory in Stuttgart does not have enough capacity to cope with demand.

The first vehicle to roll off the line was an Indian red Boxster S with a black soft top.
In attendance for the start of Boxster production in Osnabrück were Minister President of Lower Saxony David McAllister, Lord Mayor of Osnabrück Boris Pistorius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn as well as President and CEO of Porsche AG Matthias Müller.

The production version of Volkswagens XL1 has been spotted during hot weather testing today and we are happy to show you some photos of the 313-mpg car.

Powering the XL1 is a compact 800 cc TDI two-cylinder common rail diesel engine developing 48 PS. It’s linked to an electric motor producing 27 PS, resulting in a total of 75 PS – a modest output yet more than enough when the low kerb weight (795 kg) of the vehicle is taken into account.

2013 Volkswagon Golf Mk VII – Spy Shots

Here are the latest spyshots of the final production prototype of the MK7 Golf. The cars is still under heavy camouflage so most of the detail and styling cues are still under wraps.

However what is interesting in this new model is the brand new MQB chassis that will be shared with the Audi A3 Etc. It will have a longer wheelbase and will also have more aerodynamic features.

The range-topping Golf models will use a new 2.0-liter TFSI Petrol engine with more producing around 240 hp on the GTI and around 310 hp in the Golf R which will be equipped with VW’s 4Motion 4 wheel drive system.

VW accidently gave us our first look at a very early clay prototype of the Mk7 Golf featuring a agressive snout and more steeply raked windscreen through an official video back in 2009.

2013 Volkswagon Beetle Cabriolet – Too Cold to be Cool

Here are the latest spyshots of the upcoming Volkswagon Beetle Cabriolet undertaking winter testing in northern Sweden.
It looks like it wasn’t hot enough in the subzero temperatures to go topless.
The new generation Beetle was unveiled last year but was leaving the cabriolet for a probable unveiling in either production concept at the Geneva Auto Salon next month.
Powering the Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet will be the same range of engines found in the current model and mated to the DSG transmission or a six speed manual.

Engine Choices:-
1.2 TSI 105PS which will do the 0-62 dash in 10.9 seconds.
1.4 TSI 160PS Which will do the 0-62mph dah in 8.3 seconds.

We expect some R Variants to be seen testing sometime this year from the concept shown in Frankfurt in 2010.

Volkswagon Shakedown Testing Polo WRC Rally Car

Volkswagen have begun shakedown testing of the 2013 Polo R WRC rally Car.

Testing is being completed by two-time World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz.

An initial test run of around 100 kilometers took place in Eifle Valley close to Trier in Germany, one of the stages of ADAC Rally Germany.

Says Volkswagen Motorsport Director Kris Nissen: “Next year we’ll be running an extensive testing programme on tarmac, gravel, mud and snow in order to prepare ourselves for the 2013 season as best we can.”

The Volkswagen Polo R WRC features a 1.6-liter TSI engine that develops approximately 296hp. The car is also equipped with an all-wheel drive system based on the haldex.

MTM Golf GTI/GTD Performance Options.

The MTM tuning engineers have been working on some performance kits for the sixth generation Golf’s. 

The GTI 

Drivers of the sixth generation will be spoiled with MTM products, to increase the performance figures. 

Four complimented tuning stages, beginning with 270 hp (199 kW) through the remapping of the ECU using code developed on the Hockenheimring

In its latter stage of tune, MTM reaches more than 300 hp/ps through the modification of the ECU, MTM turbocharger with exhaust tubular manifold and complete 4 pipes exhaust system. 

The exact characteristics are 310 hp (228 kW) and a torque of 410 Nm, with a time of 1.16 min realized on the small track of Hockenheim, top speed of about 270 km/h and 5,7 seconds from 0 to 100. 

MTM provides the new GTI with 19″ sport rims in new BIMOTO 9-spoke-design which offer enough space for the MTM brake system with 380 mm discs. Last but not least, MTM advises the in-house suspension kit, which lowers the front about 30 mm. 

For the ones who are only searching ‘a little bit’ more, they are in good hands at MTM. The 60 hp upgrade compared to the series car and also the 18″ sport rims in the Bimoto Design – available since the beginning of 2010 – enable a first entry into MTM high quality tuning already available from 2800 euro incl. taxes. 


 

Mighty Diesel power. The Golf GTD by MTM. Also for all you Oil Burners MTM also have a power upgrade – through ECU modifications – of 205 hp (151 kW) and a torque of 380 Nm, the MTM Golf GTD is clearly ahead of the series GTD, with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h of 7,1 s instead of  7,8 s and a more direct torque curve. 

For those who are looking for more than a power upgrade, it’s also possible to revert to MTM’s full range of tuning products. Starting with the well-known MTM exhaust system in 4-pipe-optic and 80 mm diameter, over MTM suspensions, MTM sport rims in the BIMOTO design and MTM brake system, the Golf GTD can perfectly provided with. Nobody has to be afraid of the prices: 800 Euro (incl. taxes, excl. installation)  for the power upgrade, 1.499 Euro for the 18″ rim set and for the ones who pay an additional charge of 400 Euro even gets a 19″ rim set.
