The Toyota FT-86 has still not made its official debut, but on saturday it will make its race debut in Germany. This FT-86 will run in the German VLN series on the Nürburgring. If you remember, they did the same thing with the Lexus LF-A. So its a type of tradition at Toyota/Lexus to race with prototypes.
The debut of the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 didn’t live up to the expectation as it was involved in an avoidable accident on the Nürburgring at last weekends VLN.
Not only the video shows that Sabine Schmitz is a capable cook it also shows the unfortunate moment Bernd Scneider lost control of the GT3 SLS and span in to Christian Hohenadel’s Corvette, to the delight of the Frikadelli driver of their Porsche R.
This caused a bit of a jam of traffic so close to the start of the race sending the rest of the race traffic across the banking, causing Frank Stippler LMS Audi R8 to crash in to a further Corvette and hitting the SLS.
The pit’s was able too repair the damage in four rounds.
The race was eventually red flagged after 3 hours and 8 minutes because there were too many incidents on the VLN circuit.
Schneider’s SLS finished 91st we look forward to the next rounds to gauge how competitive the car is and hopefully be incident free.
