It’s interesting to see how ordinary motorists and amateur/semi-pro race drivers are so fascinated (bordering on obsessed?) with obtaining F1-like data and telemetry for their driving activities.
So much so, that there are any number of quite good (and improving) smartphone apps for the major platforms that aim to provide the motorsports telemetry experience to a wide audience. Some are free, some are quite expensive, but all have a large following. Some are better implemented than others, but there’s a growing trend for this type of application to come with back-end server support for more comprehensive playback and analysis. These server systems are (so far) by no means as professional or as comprehensive as something like the Magneti Marelli’s top-end WINTAX or ATLAS products, but much more accomplished than you would ever be able to get on your smartphone.
Here is the BMW 4 Series sporting the premium M Sports Pack which has a few similarities in terms of design with the range-topping M4 Coupe and sporting the M Estoril Blue colour scheme.
The 4-Series Coupe is likely to be offered upon launch with a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engine producing 245 HP (180 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm), along with a larger inline-six, 3.0-liter TwinPower rated at 306 HP (225 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. Sometimes it’s time to leave the city. Escape the restrictions of everyday life. Yes you guessed it the flagship I8 is lapping the Nordschleife.
After successful initial testing of the vehicle concept, the decision for a series production vehicle was quickly made. The BMW i8 Concept is the next step in the evolution of the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept.
And now it looks like BMW I8 is looking close to completion, the I8’s plug-in hybrid concept combines the modified electric propulsion system from the BMW i3 Concept – fitted over its front axle – with a high-performance three cylinder combustion engine producing 164 kW/220 hp and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) at the rear. Well it looks like Renault are about to go official with the Clio RS MK4 and after some teaser videos and its camouflaged hill climb at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of speed.
We have managed to get the first glimpse of a white fully uncamouflaged version of RenaultSports Clio RS before its official unvailing at the 2012 Paris Motorshow.
From the outside, the Clio RenaultSport seems to have grown up from its aggressive styling, which includes a revised front bumper with cavernous air vents feeding the intercooler with enough cool air to keep air intake temperatures low, also the addition of chrome side skirts which will differentiate the RS model from the other Clio’s, finishing the extensive detailing will be twin exhausts on each side of the car. Here are the latest spyshots from the Nordschleife industry pool at the Nurburgring in Germany.
Here is the 2013 Opel – Vauxhall junior still hiding under its camouflage.
We snapped the Adam on its first laps around the Nürburgring but as you all know it has been photographed in both other places in Germany as well as in Sweden during the winter. The Adam is based on a shorted version of the new platform that will also underpin the next generation Corsa and will be available at the dealers in spring 2013.
Production will begin at the Eisenach plant in Germany in late 2012, with sales beginning in 2013and will retail at around £9500.
Here we have got the latest and clearest Spyshots of the C-X16 Mule which was revealed in Concept form in Frankfurt in 2011.
As you can see this is no ground up chassis which will be used in the final form but this shorter wheel based mule is testing the power train which will be ultimately mated to the production prototypes.
C-X16 is powered by an experimental hybrid powertrain that combines a new all-alloy 3.0 Litre V6 Supercharged engine with a performance-boosting electric motor inspired by Formula One’s Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS).
C-X16’s is constructed from an all aluminium body shell .
A unique combination of lightness, strength and torsional rigidity results in greater handling agility, faster acceleration, shorter braking distances and improved fuel economy in comparison to an equivalent steel-bodied car.
It is being billed as having 380hp along with 332 (lb ft) of torque mated to a 8 Speed Gearbox with integrated KERS.
0 to 60 will be achieved in a very respectable 4.4 and a top speed limited at 186mph and unbelievably a combined 41 mpg.
If Jaguar pull this car off with them specs they will be competing with the likes of Porsche Panamera and the Mighty M5.
