BMW M are celebrating a rather special weekend at the Nürburgring’s DTM they secure podium places of 1st and 3rd for drivers Bruno Spengler & Charly Lamm, marking the 50th victory for BMW.
“When I won at the Lausitzring, I found it difficult to take in what had happened. It was the 50th victory for BMW and the first of its comeback season. We made history there. The race at the Nürburgring was all about the 40th birthday of BMW M. In addition, the Green Hell is something of a home track for BMW, so this was another very special success. I am overjoyed and really proud.”
The BMW M3 is beginning its prototype training and has been seen in the Death Valley in the USA, and also most recently the Nordschleife in Germany.
These shots are showing us either a very early design stage of the front bumper or the are going for a less aggressive look and this surely cant be the case, so we expect these to change form throughout next year. Continue reading 2013 BMW M3 – Spied Nurburgring→
This is BMWs answer to the Mercedes CLS AMG and Audi flagship S7, the M6 Gran Coupe has been spotted in light camouflage during cold weather testing in Scandinavia. With its deep front spoiler and wider fenders it looks really aggressive and the M trademark quad exhaust pipes finish the back off beautifully.
Powered by the same high revving turbocharged V8 engine as the M5 and the just revealed M6 Coupe and Convertible, the M6 Gran Coupe has atleast 560 wild horses to play with. Rumors are even talking on a 20-40 hp power boost for the M6 Gran Coupe, making it 580-600 hp in total.
All this power will be sent to BMW M´s latest seven-speed Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic.
We all know how impressive the new 1m Coupe from BMW really is and keen to hint that the E30 is reborn from the matured 3 Series M.
So the guys from Munich have decided to show us the power of pixels over pistons.
As both the car gloriously drifts around the circuit the CGI boys have overlayed an very tight “STARFOX” Area-51 esque circuit.
I want an 1M Coupe but not sure this adds to the attraction anyway enjoy the Video.
And off course some self taken Nurburgring Prototype Photos from 2009.
BMW have finally named the 1-Series M-Powered Coupe, BMW M seems to want to avoid confusion with the M1 of old, by calling it the 1-Series M instead.
BMW GmbH today has revealed this sneak preview video that hints to what the model will be like.
It’s still wearing it camouflage and infact more than the original test mule pictures spotted by us around the roads in Germany.
The model will be officially unveiled at the 2010 Frankfurt IAA but the naming of the youtube video “step 1”, hints at more details and teasers.
“There are so many people out there just dreaming to have a BMW M car. We are here to realize dreams,” teases Segler in the video.
And in the accompanying interview, he goes on to explain that since the M3 has grown and matured over its nearly 25-year history, it was time to offer something more basic to BMW customers.
“This is why it is one of my most urgent goals to offer a small, affordable M model in the tradition of the very first BMW M3,” said Segler in the press release.

German’s webzine Auto-News interviewed BMW M Division’s Dr. Kay Segler after the 24-hour race at the Nurburgring. Segler admitted that his motorsport division was developing a baby M powered car based on the 135i. The car will aim to admit younger buyers into the M club, given how out-of-reach the current entry-level M3 has become.
The name M1 is out of question due to respect for the original supercar (1978 to 1981) and wasnt confirmed to be the 135is either. The power unit is also unknown but it is assumed to pack more than the 322-340 bhp offered by the special Performance Power Kit. It goes on sale in relatively small numbers from the end of 2011.
Also Segler confirmed the new M5 will appear in late 2011. Its engine is based on the 4.4-litre bi-turbo V8 found in the X series M’s. The two pack a respectable 547 bhp, but the M5 is expected to top them considering the RS6 is 580 hp so expect a competitive power output.
Suppose this would be hard to dispute considering our photos of both M division cars.
