Zandvoort Pitlane Accident

A rather interesting outcome at the DTM at Zandvoort, Jamie Green (Mercedes AMG C-Coupé) finished the seventh race in fourth place and improved his position in the championship overall standings by going up into second place after fighting the race winner Edoardo Mortara (Audi).

Mercedes Benz Championship leader Gary Paffett (THOMAS SABO Mercedes AMG C-Coupé) came home in seventh place after a tough race.

He was in grid position eight for the start of the race and had reached fourth place when, at the start of lap 27, Martin Tomczyk (BMW) caused him to spin and drop back down to eleventh place. During the remaining 16 laps, championship leader Paffett again moved up the field four positions to finish seventh.

Paffett heads the DTM drivers’ championship, having secured 109 points, and has a 16-point lead on team-mate Green in second position with 93 points. THOMAS SABO / Mercedes-Benz Bank AMG lead the team standings with 133 points. Mercedes AMG are second on 101 points. Mercedes-Benz on 256 points holds the top spot in the Manufacturers’ Championship.

Ralf Schumacher (Mercedes AMG C-Coupé) finished the seventh race at Zandvoort in tenth position after a bizarre pitlane incident where the airline was caught by the rear wing on Ralf Schumacher’s car which sent an adjacent 4 Mercedes Pitline Crew to hospital thankfully all ok with one still in hospital for observation…..

F1’s Robert Kubica Seriously Injured in Andora Rally (Video)

Polish Formula One star Robert Kubica was seriously injured in a crash while heading to the start of the Ronde di Andora rally in Liguria, Italy, his Lotus Renault team says.

The Lotus Renault GP driver from Poland was at the wheel of the Skoda Fabia he was to race in the rally on Sunday when he left the road at high speed and crashed into a wall.

His co-driver, Jacub Gerber, is reported to have emerged from the wreck unhurt, but Kubica remained inside.

Kubica is said to have been conscious when emergency services removed him from the vehicle.

He was then transferred by helicopter to the Santa Corona hospital in nearby Pietra Ligure, near Savona, suffering from multiple fractures and internal trauma.

His condition was said to be serious and subsequent reports claimed he may be at risk of losing a hand that was crushed in the crash.
