BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe – Geneva 2012

After spying the m6 series Gran Coupe in Sweden earlier this week, BMW are showing up the non M powered variant of the luxury Coupe at the 2012 Geneva Autosalon.

The 6-series Gran Coupe will launch with a choice of three engines.

The entry level version will be the 640i that houses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 315 HP and 450 Nm of torque and will accelerate to 60mph in 5.4 seconds.

The Diesel Powered 640d Gran Coupe uses a 3.0-liter engine with 309hp and 630 Nm of torque. Performance matches the diesel variant due to the huge torque propelling it to 60mph in 5.4 seconds.

The Range topping non M powered variant is powered by the same twin turbo engine as in the current M5 and M6 but detuned to around 440hp.

This is actually clever marketing as we have previously spied the m-powered variant in northern sweden and this will be around the 550hp from its 4.4 twin turbo v8.

Gumpert Apollo Enraged and R Racer revealed in Geneva

Gumpert unveiled two world premieres at the Geneva Motorshow first the Apollo R and the road legal Apollo Enraged special edition.

Roland Gumpert the former director of Audi Sport informed us it has been 3 years since they got the 7:11 time on the infamous norschleife and is looking forward to beating it with both cars the Road Legal Apollo Enraged and the trackday special the Apollo R.

The Gumpert Apollo R uses the Audi sourced V8 used in both the V8 R8 and the RS4 with added twin-turbo engine producing 860 HP, the power increase is a tribute to the additional boost pressure and lower air gas intake temperatures along with modifications from the manifold and air intake system which will survive hotter ambient temperatures.

The engine considering its anorexic 1100kg is finished off with a single piece of cast aluminium detailing the Gumpert Logo.

The special edition GUMPERT apollo Enraged. Limited to three vehicles worldwide will have 780 hp which is the most powerful street legal Apollo to leave the GUMPERT factory.

We expect Gumpert to be attempting another record of the Nordschleife later this year.

Ferrari F12 Berlinetta Revealed

Ferrari released images and details of their upcoming 599 replacement, earlier today.

The F12 Berlinetta will be Ferrari’s most powerful and fastest ever road car. The power outputs are almost identical, as those reported by us last week  at 740CV (approx 730bhp). Ferrari say the V12, which is the same one used in the four seater FF, but will rev to 8700rpm, and put out 80bhp more. Yet the F12 will return 18.9mpg, an increase of 10% over the 599. This is possible in part, thanks to the Start-Stop technology, as used in other current Ferraris.

The F12 will hit 62 in 3.1 seconds, 124 in 8.5 seconds, and lap Ferrari’s home circuit, Fiorano in 1min23seconds. Hugely impressive!

As with all new Ferraris, the F12 Berlinetta will not be available with a manual gear box. Ferrari are using their dual clutch, automatic gearbox.

As suspected the new F12 is actually a little smaller than the outgoing 599. According to our sources, customers complained that the 599 was a bit too difficult to park in their garages. The F12 Berlinetta will be 20mm narrower, 47mm shorter, 63mm lower than the 599. That’s 1942mm wide, 4618mm long and 1273mm high. This has lowered the cars overall centre of gravity.

The car is also now built from an all new 12 alloy aluminium spaceframe chassis and bodyshell, making in 70kg lighter than the 599, at 1525kg. Also, as reported by us last week. The F12 will also be 20% stiffer than its 599 predecessor.

Ferrari note that thanks to the XX programme, they, along with Pininfarina have designed the aerodynamics so that the F12 has 76% more downforce than the 599. The drag coefficient is down to 0.299.

Reduction in drag is reduced partly thanks to a newly designed “Air-Bridge” which channels from the bonnets side intakes though the wheel arches, then splits it though the car’s beautifully sculpted side vents. You can see these vents clearly in the pictures above. The car also has “Active Brake Cooling” which is a system that will open the brake vents when the Carbon Ceramic get hot enough. The system will then close them again when the brakes have cooled down, reducing the drag effect.

We can expect the interior to be a mix between the 458 and the FF. All driving major controls will be mounted on the steering wheel, as per Ferrari’s “Human Machine Interface” system.

Order books will open at the Geneva show, and prices will likely start at around £250,000. So get your cheque books ready and you could be driving the brand new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta by early 2013!

Revealed – Leaked Specs of the Ferrari 599 Successor

Ferrari will be launching their 599 successor in March at the 2012 Geneva AutoSalon, and as we’ve previously reported, it will be called the F620. We posted spy shots of this car under going testing towards the end of last year.

A select few of Ferrari’s very best customers have recently been invited to a special preview event. At this event, Ferrari showed off their new, still top secret supercar to the small group of the lucky invitees. Thanks to the loose lips of some of these Ferrari guests, we can now reveal some of the headline specs of the new car.

Ferrari’s new supercar will be powered by a V12 engine, producing 740bhp (30 more than previously thought!) and will weigh 1524kg, dry. That’s a weight saving of 56kg and a power increase of 128bhp over the outgoing 599 model. We can also reveal the new supercar will accelerate from 0 to 124mph in only 8.5 seconds and have a top speed over 211mph (340kph).

We cant wait until the official unveil in Geneva.

Ferrari Prototype F152 to be unveiled at Geneva F620 (Official)

The fastest production sportscar Ferrari produce, the 599 GTB, will soon have a successor.

The F620 GT in classic will have its world premier in March at the 2012 Geneva AutoSalon.

It is called internally F152 as we previously reported but at launch it will publicly wear the official model number F620.

It will be powered by a V12 engine with a displacement of 6.3 litres, and a range topping 710 hp and expected to do the 0-60 sprint in around 3.5 seconds. This will be sent to the rear wheels with the same 7 speed dual clutch gearbox as in the 458 albeit tweaked for the additional power output.

The styling will be a fusion of the 458 Italia and the FF following the current range design cues.

2012 Mercedes A Class out in the Cold (Spy Video)

Here are the latest pictures of the upcoming 2012 Mercedes A Class sporting less camouflage than the previous spyshots.

The two cars are undergoing rigourous winter testing in northern Sweden which is reaching the end of its test cycle as its spent a lot of time on the Nurburgring in Germany and was first spotted in 2009.

The car is allready in production prototype from and hints at the final shape which is close to the A Class concept shown in Shanghai in april last year albeit more doors.

Powering the unit is a multitude of petrols ranging from 109 hp to the flagship petrol sporting a 210 hp turbocharged four cylinder along with a similar output diesel range.

Also a AMG variant is in development and expected in middle of 2013 with the above model arriving at the Geneva Autoshow in march.
