Has been in Taiwan filming with MTM Taiwan and their 472hp MTM Fettled Audi TT-R, and dubbed the film “The Beast”.

Powering the TTRS is a reworked 2.5 TFSI, the robust five-cylinder can reach 472 BHP and a maximum torque of around 600 Nm. A modified turbocharger gives the engine a high-powered air supply, and modified spark plugs ensure the optimal firing of the combustion chambers.

History of the Audi 5 Cylinder Engine Video

I must admit I am a fan of the Audi 90 Quattro and its historic prowess, and Audi of America have fetched us this excellent insight.

The film tells the story of the legendary longitudinally mounted Audi 5-cylinder racing engine used in the IMSA/GTO circuit in 1989 at Sears Point.

Audi driver Hans-Joachim Stuck focuses on the moment when this fire-breathing, aggressive five cylinder, with its characteristic wasteplate turbo chatter in mid shift, ushered the Audi team to victory.

The piece then links the motor sports moment of truth to a story of modern-day design and engine innovation in the 5 cylinder lurking beneath the hood of the TT RS and unavailable in the standard TT. quattro GmbH engineer Michael Ganz brings to life the visual technological advancements of the 5 cylinder engine at the quattro GmbH engine test bed, and through specific dynamic track footage of the TT RS.

Surprisingly omitted is any reference to the Audi RS3 which us Europeans have access to.

Audi RS Q3 Concept – Official

Audi has released pictures of the RS Q3 Concept, that will be revealed to the world at the China 2012 motorshow in Beijing.

The concept hints that the power will be from the same 2.5 TFSI engine as the TTRS and the RS3, and will be driven from the quattro seven-speed S tronic transmission system.

The bumper was redesigned; there are now powerful edges around the outer air intakes. They are subdivided into two segments – the inner sections have honeycomb screen inserts, while their outer sections, made of Carbon Fibre, have a smooth funnel shape assume this is for the brakes. The front spoiler is also made of Carbon Fibre. Its lower section is matt black. The entire lower section of the bumper is coated with blue clearcoat paint.

In the interior of the Audi RS Q3 concept, which gets plenty of light through a glass sunroof, cool black is the dominant color – on the roofliner, floor carpet, floor mats, leather-upholstered instrument panel and on large areas of the seat upholstery, which consists of Fine Nappa leather. Dark blue Alcantara is used as a contrasting element on the seat covers.

The styling of the engine compartment is also extremely sporty in appearance. A layered-carbon trim panel covers the area around the five-cylinder engine that sports a red valve cover, and two laterally arranged ventilation screens feed air to the engine. As is the practice in car racing, the cylinder numbers are marked on their spark plug covers. An aluminum housing holds the open sports air filter, and the filtered air tube is made of stainless steel.

The car looks less outlandish than the usual concepts so we expect a production concept to be shown at Frankfurt later on in 2012 and rumoured to be available 2nd quarter 2013.
