BENTLEY REVEALS CONTINENTAL GT3 DETAILS AT GLOBAL DEBUT

Bentley Continental GT3

BENTLEY REVEALS CONTINENTAL GT3 DETAILS AT GLOBAL DEBUT

  • Continental GT3 unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed
  • 600 bhp 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 for 1300 kg racer
  • GT3 to drive the Goodwood hill-climb twice a day

Bentley debuts its new Continental GT3 race car at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed today, unveiling a racing machine set to explore the extreme potential of Bentley’s iconic Grand Tourer, the Continental GT. Member of the Board for Engineering, Rolf Frech, comments: “The Continental GT3 exploits the incredible performance beneath the skin of every Continental GT. We’ve removed over 1000 kilograms of weight, reconfigured our 4.0-litre V8 to produce 600 bhp in race specification, and developed a comprehensive aerodynamic package to ensure that we perform competitively. We are now looking forward to getting the car on the track and proving its potential.”

The Continental GT3 is powered by a race-prepared and dry-sump version of Bentley’s powerful but efficient 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, with many components carried over from the road-going engine. Developing up to 600 bhp in unrestricted race configuration via a motorsport engine management system, the V8 provides the GT3 with highly competitive power in a compact and lightweight package that’s perfect for racing. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a carbon fibre propshaft to an Xtrac six-speed sequential gearbox with a limited slip differential, mounted as a transaxle for optimised weight distribution. Gear actuations are completed via a pneumatic shift system, controlled by paddles mounted to the steering wheel.

A double wishbone suspension configuration front and rear, fitted with four-way adjustable racing dampers, replaces the standard road-car air springs. The steering system features hydraulic power-assistance, while braking is via ventilated iron discs combined with six-piston calipers on the front and four-piston calipers on the rear.

The exterior of the car features a comprehensive aerodynamic package, to maximise downforce with optimised drag. A top-mounted carbon fibre rear wing provides rear downforce and stability, while a carbon fibre splitter balances the aerodynamic forces at the front of the car. Revisions have been made to the bonnet, bumpers, fenders and sills in order to optimise the car’s drag coefficient and to assist with engine cooling.

Spied – Jaguar Lapping the Nurburgring with their F-Type Coupe

F-Type Coupe

Some month’s ago we gave you the very first photos of the new Jaguar F-Type Coupe, and today we can show you the clearest batch of photos taken at the Nürburgring where the F-Type Coupe took some quick laps before it disappeared again.

Just like the F-Type Roadster we expect the Coupe to be available in two V6 versions and one V8 for a start. But as we hear through the grapevine there might be some R and R-S versions of the F-Type in the pipeline in the future.

We expect the Power to be delivered from the current three engines – A 3.0 V6 340PS, 3.0 V6 380PS and 5.0 V8 495PS. Each features a Roots-type twin vortex supercharger mounted on the ‘V’ of the engine to maintain its compact dimensions.
Jaguar is a leader in Supercharged induction technology – it provides a linear delivery of performance and high levels of torque at all engine speeds, minimizing the gap between the driver’s demand for power and the engine’s response.

2014 Rolls Royce Ghost Face-lift Spied

Rolls Royce Ghos 2014

Four years have passed since its reveal at the 2009 Frankfurt Motoshow, Rolls Royce have decided its time for a mild facelift to its current Ghost.

Well here it is and in a state of low camouflage, we can see clearly the headlight units are all new and the front bumper has some minor changes making it look more like the recently revealed Wraith in styling.

The cammo work is very well done and you have to look closely to see where the front parts are covered which could reveal some minor details hidden underneath, along with hidden exhaust pipes and redesigned mirrors.

Black Falcon SLS AMG Wins 2013 Nurburgring 24H
The Black Falcon team of Bernd Schneider, Sean Edward/Jeroen Bleekemolen/Nicki Thiim have won the 2013 Nurburgring 24 Hours with a incredibly tight margin of two minutes 39 seconds. It was the first ever win at the event for Mercedes after many races at the VLN improved the handling on the infamous circuit.

Heavy rain forced race control during the night to interrupt the race for more than nine hours. Numerous accidents caused a treacherous mix of oil, mud and rain water on the track.

Coming in second place was the BMW Z4 GT3 Driven by Maxime Martin (BE) who brought the number 25 BMW Sports Trophy Team car home. As well as Martin, Yelmer Buurman (NL), Andrea Piccini (IT) and Richard Göransson (SE) were also in action over the course of the eventful race.

After 88 laps of the 25.378-kilometre circuit, the runner-up car was 2:39.781 minutes behind the winning Mercedes SLS.

Jaguar F-Type Coupe – First Spyshot’s

Jaguar F-Type Coupe First Spyshots

Here is another story to debunk the rumor that the recently leaked patent drawings of the F-Type Coupe, in fact these where the real deal contrary to weak reports that it was the CX16 concept patent.

The prototype albeit under a lot of camouflage trying to trick us in to thinking its just a F-Type Cabriolet.

It is believed the F-Type Coupe will go on sale early 2014 and is likely to retain the same engine lineup as the convertible. a supercharged V6 3.0-liter with 340 HP and 380 HP, plus a range topping supercharged V8 5.0-liter producing 495 HP.
