Jaguar’s Project 7 concept will make a dynamic debut at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed on 12th July. Project 7 is based on Jaguar’s acclaimed F-TYPE, its all-new, two-seater, convertible sports car and winner of the World Car Design of the Year 2013 award.
Key exterior design changes include a fairing behind the driver’s head; bespoke carbon-fibre components – a new front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser; lowered windshield and restyled front bumper. Project 7’s unique interior features a composite single-seat with racing harness, a helmet holder and custom trim. Project 7’s name acknowledges Jaguar’s winning of Le Mans seven times between 1951-1990 – a record for a British manufacturer – and its blue paintwork is reminiscent of the victorious Jaguar D-types of 1956/1957.
Project 7 is not a static concept, but a fully-functional, high-performance sports car. The F-TYPE’s rigid all-aluminum architecture provides the perfect starting point, power coming from Jaguar’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine in 550PS/680Nm form – an increase of 55PS and 55Nm over the F-TYPE V8 S. Some month’s ago we gave you the very first photos of the new Jaguar F-Type Coupe, and today we can show you the clearest batch of photos taken at the Nürburgring where the F-Type Coupe took some quick laps before it disappeared again.
Just like the F-Type Roadster we expect the Coupe to be available in two V6 versions and one V8 for a start. But as we hear through the grapevine there might be some R and R-S versions of the F-Type in the pipeline in the future.
We expect the Power to be delivered from the current three engines – A 3.0 V6 340PS, 3.0 V6 380PS and 5.0 V8 495PS. Each features a Roots-type twin vortex supercharger mounted on the ‘V’ of the engine to maintain its compact dimensions.
Jaguar is a leader in Supercharged induction technology – it provides a linear delivery of performance and high levels of torque at all engine speeds, minimizing the gap between the driver’s demand for power and the engine’s response. Here is another story to debunk the rumor that the recently leaked patent drawings of the F-Type Coupe, in fact these where the real deal contrary to weak reports that it was the CX16 concept patent.
The prototype albeit under a lot of camouflage trying to trick us in to thinking its just a F-Type Cabriolet.

Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar, said: “Jaguar is a founder member of the sports car segment with a rich sporting bloodline stretching over 75 years, and in the F-TYPE we’ve reignited that flame. The F-TYPE isn’t designed to be like anyone else’s sports car. It’s a Jaguar sports car – ultra-precise, powerful, sensual and, most of all, it feels alive.”
The single lone image was posted to Facebook by well-known spy photographer Andreas Mau on his CarPix site, shows all three models of the soon to be released F-Type.
The F-TYPE will be launched as a convertible with a choice of three petrol engines: 340PS and 380PS versions of Jaguar’s all-new 3.0-litre supercharged V6, and a new derivative of its existing supercharged 5.0-litre V8. All will drive the rear wheels through an eight-speed transmission and will be equipped with Stop/Start technology.
